Leafy invites for Thanksgiving

leaf garland

As the fall leaves start to disappear from view, to be replaced by black branches and gray skies, we’ve been in a flurry of leaf-rubbing activity. We can’t get enough of it. It’s the paper-crafting equivalent of knitting a scarf. So simple, so mindless, so satisfying. We’ve done sheets and sheets of leaves in rainbow colors to create wrapping paper for all the autumn birthdays coming in the next two weeks.

And then I realized we could cut out the leaves to make garlands. My small test one looked like an invitation. Voila! The perfect Thanksgiving invites. The whole family is coming to our house again. Although everyone knows they’re invited, I love sending paper invitations.

The invites go out tomorrow! And then we can start using the leftover leaf rubbings to make decorations…
